ART EXHIBITION

Curated by Estela Gama

Estela Gama is a contemporary Mexican American artist currently residing in Long Beach, CA. She lived in Tijuana, MX most of her childhood as she attended school across the border in the US. Having grown up in both Tijuana and San Diego, her love of both Mexican and American culture grew tremendously.

She has developed a unique artistic identity greatly inspired by formative experiences and influenced by her own culture clash. Her art explores and celebrates the resilient spirit, especially that of the feminine figure, which she often depicts emerging from a cluster of abstract color. Today, Estela works to inspire the next generation not only with her art, but through her example as an art teacher serving opportunity youth in an alternative education high school setting.

Estela, holds a Master’s degree in Art Education from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Drawing and Painting from the Laguna College of Art & Design. In addition to being an exhibiting artist, Estela has served as acting curator in collaboration with Talento Hispano Arte & Cultura Global in multiple cultural art exhibitions and events in southern California and Baja California, MX. Estela has organized or co-organized shows dedicated to hispanic heritage and art without borders at Centro Cultural de la Raza amongst other small-scale venues. Some major exhibitions include Matices de las Américas, Mujeres de Ayer, Hoy y Siempre and Viva el Arte amongst others.
